| Michael: In this lesson, you'll learn how to use a sentence pattern for seeking confirmation about a statement. |

| Michael: "You have paid the electricity bill, right?" |

| Michael: The pattern for seeking confirmation about a statement has two elements. First, the main clause meaning "You have paid the electricity bill". |
| Chrissi: Έχεις πληρώσει το ρεύμα (Éhis plirósi to révma). |
| Michael: Second, the adverb used as a tag question meaning "right". |
| Chrissi: σωστά (sostá). |
| Michael: Altogether, we have... "You have paid the electricity bill, right?" |

| Michael: This sentence pattern is all about adding the word "right,"... |
| Chrissi: ...which in Greek is σωστά (sostá)... |
| Michael: ...which is added after a main clause that expresses a statement, in order to get a confirmation about the statement. A main clause is a part of a sentence that can stand alone in speech and doesn't depend on other clauses to make sense or be complete. It can be as simple as a single verb, for example, "You paid." or it can be more complicated, for example, "You have paid the electricity bill." By now, you've learned lots of different sentence patterns, so you can use those to form independent clauses that can be followed by the word "right" in order to seek confirmation about something. |

| Michael: So remember, to seek confirmation about a statement, simply add the word "right,"... |

| Michael: Here is another example meaning, "He is in Spain, right?" First, we have the main clause meaning "He is in Spain". |
| Chrissi: Αυτός είναι στην Ισπανία (Aftós íne stin Ispanía). |
| Michael: Second, we have the adverb used as a tag question meaning "right". |
| Chrissi: σωστά (sostá). |
