Hi everyone! I’m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What's your favorite number?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to say many numbers and ask someone their favorite number.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
Ποιος είναι ο αγαπημένος σου αριθμός; (Pios íne o agapiménos su arithmós?)
Το εφτά. (To eftá.)
Once more with the English translation.
Ποιος είναι ο αγαπημένος σου αριθμός; (Pios íne o agapiménos su arithmós?)
“What's your favorite number?”
Το εφτά. (To eftá.)
“It's seven.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “What's your favorite number?”
That's:
Ποιος είναι ο αγαπημένος σου αριθμός; (Pios íne o agapiménos su arithmós?)
Listen to it again:
Ποιος είναι ο αγαπημένος σου αριθμός;, Ποιος είναι ο αγαπημένος σου αριθμός; (Pios íne o agapiménos su arithmós?, Pios íne o agapiménos su arithmós?)
“What's your favorite number?”
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
Το [number]. (To [number].)
This Greek sentence literally means “(The) [number].”
But it means “It's [number].”
For example:
“It's seven.”
Το εφτά., Το εφτά. (To eftá., To eftá.)
