Kyejin: In this Sunday News, you’ll learn all about the Dialogue Study Tool.
Body
Kyejin: Listeners, in a previous Sunday News...

Kyejin: Now, if you’re brand new and don’t know what the Dialogue Tool is...
Peter: It’s a Premium study tool you’ll find in every lesson.
Kyejin: In fact, you probably saw it when you first signed up.
Peter: With it, you get the line-by-line breakdown of the conversations in your lessons.
Peter: You get the dialogue script in the target language...
Kyejin: You get the romanized version, the translated script...
Peter: ...audio pronunciations...
Kyejin: ...and access to a voice recorder for each line.
Peter: So, what makes this Study Tool so powerful?
Kyejin: Listeners, in real life, if you hear a native conversation...
Peter: Maybe you’ll recognize a word or two, but most of it will be too fast...
Kyejin: And it’ll be in one ear and out the other. That’s a problem most beginners have.
Peter: But, the Dialogue makes native conversations super-easy to understand and digest...
Kyejin: ...even if you’re a beginner.
Peter: Here’s how. It breaks down the lesson conversations, one line at a time.
Kyejin: ...so that you focus on one line at a time...
Peter: ...without getting overwhelmed. You can also use it to perfect...
Kyejin: ...your speaking, reading, listening and writing skills.
Peter: So, Kyejin, let’s start first with speaking.
Kyejin: Okay. First, when you listen to a lesson, use the dialogue to read along...
Peter: ...and listeners, this is important- as you listen, speak out loud. Repeat what you hear.
Kyejin: You can also click on the audio icon next to the line to hear that individual line... and repeat out loud.
Peter: You can do this as many times as you want. Now, if you want to perfect your pronunciation...
Kyejin: ...click on the microphone icon to start recording...
Peter: Then record and compare your pronunciation with native speakers.
Kyejin: These tactics get you speaking in minutes, and if you apply these to every lesson...
Peter: ...you’ll be speaking a ton!
Kyejin: Next, here’s how you master listening.
Peter: Listeners... this is one of the EASIEST skills to master.
Kyejin: Yes, all you have to do is...listen!
Peter: So, since the Dialogue is a line by line breakdown of the conversation...
Kyejin: ...you can listen to each line separately, as much as you want.
Peter: Just click on the audio icon to listen again and again...
Kyejin: ...and review the script. Read along so that you can pick apart every word.
Peter: That way, you can understand fast, native level conversations
Kyejin: ...and never miss a word.
Peter: Next. Here’s how you can practice reading with the Dialogue.
Kyejin: This is another easy skill.
Peter: As you listen to the conversation, read along with the lesson script...
Kyejin: ...that’s inside the lesson dialogue. If you don’t know a word...
Peter: Click the translations. They’re right there in the dialogue.
Kyejin: You can even read with the romanized script to help you sound out the words.
Peter: So, speaking, listening, reading... and finally...
Kyejin: Here’s how you can practice writing.
Peter: Now, this advice is not something you’ll hear very often because... it’s so simple.
Kyejin: It’s so simple that most people don’t even think of doing it.
Peter: Exactly, Kyejin. Here it is. Copy out the dialogue by hand into a notebook.
Kyejin: So literally just grab a pen and paper, and copy it down?
Peter: That’s it. I’m applying this tactic to my Hebrew learning. I also did this with my Japanese. I’d write out a whole passage out of my textbook. In fact, I used this tactic so often, it also improved my reading!
Kyejin: ...Ah, because you had to read and understand it first before you’d write it down.
Peter: Exactly. The other benefit is, it gives you things to write.
Kyejin: So, instead of worrying about “what you should write...” you can just copy the dialogue.
Peter: Okay, listeners, the final tip is, whether you’re practicing speaking, reading...
Kyejin: ...Listening, or writing... use the Dialogue to review again and again. Repeat the same phrase 10 times.
Peter: Listen to the lines 10 times. Read the dialogue twice. Write it out twice.
Kyejin: Because the more you do it, the faster you’ll improve.
Peter: By the way listeners, if you want even more learning tactics...
Kyejin: We’re giving away a bonus PDF guide called, “7 Review Tactics &Learning Tools” to help you learn language even faster.
Peter: If you want it, leave a comment on this Sunday News.
Kyejin: ...and we’ll reply with the link.
Peter: Also, If you’re a Premium or a Premium PLUS user, you already have access to the Dialogue Tool.
Kyejin: If not, if you want to get access to this feature and…

Hi Paul,

Thank you for your question.

If you are following Level 1 or 2 pathway, you'll notice there are some tests after every few lessons. I think once you can successfully complete them, you can be sure that you are ready to move on. If not, that is an indicator that you need to go back and review. It's fine to go back and forth as needed because sometimes we forget.

Ultimately, you will know yourself when you are ready to move on once the theory of a lesson makes sense. You might not be able to use it very effectively on the very early stages because the speech always depends on so many other things but the simple fact that something makes sense at least, is a good sign. If you have too many questions about a particular piece of grammar, it's probably because you haven't understood it enough so you need more practice. The Premium plus service could help you in that case, in the sense that you could have a go-to tutor to help you out when you are stuck and need some help or practice.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Cheers,

Stefania

Hi Kyejin and Peter

Thanks for the news items. I really love the study tips - they really help with getting to grips with foreign language learning. How do you know though when you should move onto the next lesson? How to prevent moving on simply because you are so used to the current material when you spend some more time studying the current lesson?

Thanks, and keep up the good work!

Paul
