Hi Hiro,

Good question.

Το ξέρω ότι δεν θέλεις να έρθω στο πάρτι. = I know IT that you don't want to come to the party.

Ξέρω ότι δεν θέλεις να έρθω στο πάρτι. = I know that you don't want to come to the party.

The whole phrase ότι δεν θέλεις να έρθω στο πάρτι is the object of ξέρω. So it functions like a single unit, like a noun.

In Greek, the 3rd person weak personal pronouns (such as το) can be used to:

- repeat a name or a noun that was mentioned before (επαναληπτική αντωνυμία, iterative pronoun): Τον Γιάννη δεν TON είδα = As for John, I didn't see HIM.

- refer to a name or noun that will be mentioned after (προληπτική αντωνυμία, antecedent pronoun): TON είδες τον Γιάννη = Did you see (HIM) John?

Here ΤΟ is an antecedent pronoun.

I hope this helps!

Hi

I have a question for this sentence.

Το ξέρω ότι δεν θέλεις να έρθω στο πάρτι.

The TO, which indicate the nominal clause oti.

Please tell me the importance of this TO.

The difference with TO and without TO?

Is it an intensification of the sentence?

Many thanks
