I think what creates confusion is that the word "literally" keeps getting mentioned while the translations are not literal, but rather "free" (ελεύθερη μετάφραση as we say in Greek).

For example although τι means "what" as you pointed out, in the sentence "How do you do?" it gets translated as "how".

Your translation is not accurate. τι does not mean how... it means what

με λένε "literally" means they call me not "I call myself" as you state.

χαίρομαι doesn't "literally" mean pleasure. it "literally" means I am pleased.

χάρικα also does not mean pleasure.
