INTRODUCTION
Eric: Must-Know Greek Social Media Phrases Season 1. Lesson 6 - An Unfortunate Accident.
Eric: Hi everyone, I'm Eric.
Chrissi: And I'm Chrissi.
Eric: In this lesson, you'll learn how to post and leave comments in Greek about an accident. Δήμητρα (Dímitra) accidentally breaks her mobile phone, posts an image of it, and leaves this comment:
Chrissi: Φρίκη! Δεν το πιστεύω αυτό που έπαθα... (Fríki! Den to pistévo aftó pu épatha...)
Eric: Meaning - "Terrible! I can't believe what happened to me..." Listen to a reading of the post and the comments that follow.

POST
Eric: Listen again to Δήμητρα (Dímitra)'s post.
Chrissi: Φρίκη! Δεν το πιστεύω αυτό που έπαθα... (Fríki! Den to pistévo aftó pu épatha...)
Eric: "Terrible! I can't believe what happened to me..."
Chrissi: (SLOW) Φρίκη! Δεν το πιστεύω αυτό που έπαθα... (Fríki! Den to pistévo aftó pu épatha...) (Regular) Φρίκη! Δεν το πιστεύω αυτό που έπαθα... (Fríki! Den to pistévo aftó pu épatha...)
Eric: Let's break this down. First is an expression meaning "terrible."
Chrissi: φρίκη (fríki)
Eric: This is a noun that means "horror", but it can be used as an interjection, like in this lesson, when something really bad happens. In this case it means "horrible" or "terrible." Listen again- "terrible" is...
Chrissi: (SLOW) φρίκη (fríki) (REGULAR) φρίκη (fríki)
Eric: Then comes the phrase - "I can't believe what happened to me."
Chrissi: δεν το πιστεύω αυτό που έπαθα (den to pistévo aftó pu épatha)
Eric: You can use the phrase…
Chrissi: δεν το πιστεύω,
Eric: meaning "I can't believe it", to express your surprise about something that you suddenly find out or happens. It can be used for good and for bad situations, just like in English. Listen again- "I can't believe what happened to me" is...
Chrissi: (SLOW) δεν το πιστεύω αυτό που έπαθα (den to pistévo aftó pu épatha) (REGULAR) δεν το πιστεύω αυτό που έπαθα (den to pistévo aftó pu épatha)
Eric: All together, "Terrible! I can't believe what happened to me..."
Chrissi: Φρίκη! Δεν το πιστεύω αυτό που έπαθα... (Fríki! Den to pistévo aftó pu épatha...)
